We.com and Thale.com, two of the mushrooming e- commerce companies used to advertise in Facebook and some other online media to allure the customers to buy TVs, fridges, motorcycles and electric fans at low prices but they did not hand over the products to the customers. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police has arrested six of them.
Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Imam Hossain said that they were arrested and detained at the Cantonment Police Station after some of the victims were lodged complaints against them in connection with the case of embezzling Tk 2.5 crore.
He told a news conference at the CID headquarters on Monday morning (October 11) that a man named Khairul Alam Mir had filed a case against Thale.com and We.com at the DMP’s Cantonment police station. Six top officials of the two companies have been arrested in the case.
The arrested persons are Nazrul Islam, Head of Operations, Sohail Hossain, Accountant, Tarek Mahmud Anik, Digital Communications Officer, Munna Parvez, Sales Executive and Masum Hasan, Supervisor.
