Candidates are holding a sit-in program in front of the Department of Health demanding publishing of final results of Medical Technologist-2020 recruitment test.
The main gate of the new building of the Mohakhali Health Department has been closed since Tuesday morning under the banner of Medical Technologist Recruitment-2020 Implementation Committee.
According to the protesters, 1,200 medical technologists were recruited 15 months ago. The viva was taken in February this year. But the results have not been pulished yet. So their recruitment process is hanging. Although, the results should been published within a month of the end of the test. But even after 6 months have passed, the final results have not yet been published.
Committee convener Alamgir Hossain said, “We want the final results to be published immediately. It is unknown to us that what might be the reason for not publishing the final results so long time after the completion of written tests and viva-voce.
“We have already submitted a memorandum to the DG (Director General of the Department of Health) and the Director Administration. The health secretary also said the results would be published soon. But that’s still to come.”
Uttam Kumar, chief coordinator of the Medical Technologist-2020 Implementation Committee, said the movement had earlier called for the results to be published by August 31. But the results have not yet been released. Let our demands be accepted and the results be published immediately.
The convener of the committee Alamgir Hossain said, “We are worried that we have repeatedly appealed to the authorities to publish the final results of the examination but we have not received any response so far.”
The medical technologists who joined the program said that the sit- in program will continue until a specific announcement is made.
After the outbreak of coronavirus in the country, the government took the initiative to appoint medical technologists on an emergency basis. Following this, on June 29 last year, the Department of Health issued a notification for the recruitment of 889 medical technologists.
